LOCTITE® 4204

Features and Benefits

A 1-part, toughened and thermally resistant, high-viscosity instant adhesive for high-temperature applications or where impact resistance is needed.
LOCTITE® 4204 is a clear, toughened and thermally resistant, high-viscosity instant adhesive. It has good impact-, peel- and temperature performance up to 121°C (250°F). It has a fixture time of 75 seconds and is suitable for the assembly of metals, rubbers and plastics, including difficult-to-bond plastics (PP, PE, PTFE) when used with a primer such as LOCTITE® SF 770.
  • Operating temperature: -44°C to 121°C (-65°F to 250°F)
  • Toughened for impact resistance
  • Excellent peel-, impact- and sheer strength
  • High viscosity for gaps up to 0.2 mm (0.008")

How to

Step by Step Guide

1. Preparation - Cleaning

It is recommended to use the correct LOCTITE® cleaner for the surface to be bonded (such as LOCTITE® SF 7063) to degrease and clean surfaces prior to applying the adhesive.

2. Preparation - Priming

To improve adhesion on difficult to bond plastic surfaces, apply LOCTITE® SF 770 to the bond area by brushing or dipping. Avoid applying excess primer. Allow the primer to dry.

3. Preparation - Activation

If cure speed is too slow, use appropriate activator LOCTITE® SF 7455 or LOCTITE® SF 7455. Apply activator to one bond surface by spray, brush or dipping (not primed surfaces). Allow the activator to dry.

4. Application

Apply adhesive to one side or part.Recommended dispensing equipment: for precise dispensing of small amounts of adhesive, use dispensing needles.

5. Assembly

Assemble parts immediately. The parts should be accurately located as the short fixture time leaves little opportunity for adjustment. Bond should be held or clamped until the adhesive has fixtured. Hint: if necessary, excess product can be cured by activator LOCTITE® SF 7455. Spray or drop activator onto excess product.
